IJN Kumano

A 500-pound bomb explodes on the deck of IJN Kumano dropped from an aircraft of USS Hancock (CV-19) on October 26, 1944 in the Sibuyan Sea off Luzon. Despite the violence of this image she survived three bomb hits and was able to refuel. Note aircraft following the camera plane in the center right. Click on the image to enlarge. (It's really, really large - 7.1 MB.)
