Armorers move 3-inch rockets to mount on attack aircraft. Most of the United States Navy's aircraft mounted six, eight or ten of these unguided missiles, which had a warhead equivalent to a 100-pound bomb. Note the two men carrying another rocket behind the weaponeers. This view also shows the various radars that Hancock mounted, for air search and sea search to find targets. Later modifications allowed the radars to identify friend from foe using their transponder frequency. This was called “IFF.” There are F6F Hellcat fighters behind the rocket men.
