USS Hancock

Even though the crew of USS Hancock (CV-19) escaped death on November 25, 1944, a kamikaze struck the ship on April 7, 1945, while the Fast Carriers were destroying the Imperial Japanese Navy's battleship Yamato. Here you can see her burning from USS Essex (CV-9).Essex maneuvered into the smoke trail to hide form other kamikazes. Click on the image to enlarge.
