“we’re standing
in a place where these people fought and these people died.”
Frances Choi in Day of the Kamikaze
“Mr. Masucci actually sort of stuck
out, I guess you could say. I noticed that he was the only who
really acknowledged the kamikaze
as [being] brave for committing their lives to their cause.
“It’s very important to preserve ships such as the USS
Intrepid because they show us how the people lived, how their conditions,
how their living conditions were, and it gave us in a way a very
sort of realistic environment through which you could experience
what they experienced. I mean, in the hangar, we’re like, standing
in a place where these people fought and these people died. It’s
more real than just reading from a textbook."
