40mm gun Destroyed on USS Cabot (CVL-28)

Sailors view the location of damage to USS Cabot (CVL-28) after a kamikaze slammed into her side, destroying a 40mm gun mount. The Marine crew were mostly killed when the gun tub was severed from the ship and plunged into the water. The kamikaze also punched a hole in the side of the ship, opening up the catapult room.
